To mark Veterans Day and showcase its ongoing support for the Armed Forces, leading supply chain, transport and logistics company Eddie Stobart will once again be showcasing its custom-decorated tractor at this year’s Lord Mayor’s Show in London, which is set to take place on Saturday 9th November.

Eddie Stobart has been involved in the show for a number of years, the commemorative vehicle bears the words ‘Lest We Forget’ and is decorated with imagery of a lone soldier amongst poppies in Flanders Fields.

Two of the company’s most experienced driver trainers, Shaun Mandeville and Carl Mackenzie, will represent the company on the day. Having worked with Eddie Stobart for a combined 37 years, the pair have trained more than 2,000 drivers to date. Since 2017, they have been integral to training drivers from across the industry after the company opened its doors to its industry-leading training academy.

An ex-serviceman who served with the First Battalion, the Light Infantry between 1976 and 1986, Mandeville said of the occasion

“The Lord Mayor’s Show is a fantastic way to mark one of the most – if not the most – important day on our calendar. To be involved in the parade is a real honour, and I’m proud to be a part of the work that Eddie Stobart does to support both serving and ex-military personnel.”

Supporting employees looking to sign up to the Reserves and helping to provide a viable career path for active reservists, are core to Eddie Stobart’s internal proposition. The company also works alongside the Career Transition Partnership (CTP) to encourage and increase job applications from the service leaver community. New staff, including its graduate intake, are also introduced to opportunities available to work with the Reserves and Cadets when they join.

Dave Pickering, COO at Eddie Stobart said,

“We’re proud of our work to support the Armed Forces and The Lord Mayor’s Show is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the efforts of our staff. Wherever possible, we want to showcase the great work of the many ex-service people and reservists working with us. We also work hard to ensure we can provide opportunities to any current or ex-military personnel considering a career in the logistics sector.”
